Small White Bowl with a Blue and Turquoise Leaf Motif

This white thrown and altered handmade stoneware ceramic bowl show cases brushed white slip on both the inside and outside with the addition of 5 dark blue & turquoise motifs. Whether being used as a practical bowl to hold your pudding, being kept as a decorative piece for an interior design scheme, or gifted to a loved one, it will bring the beauty of the natural world into your home.
The bowl is inspired by the bushes that I see in Autumn hedgerows, particularly the Blackthorn, or the Sloe bush.
Made in my garden studio, in Kent, UK, first I hand throw the basic bowl form and then I alter it by cutting and rethrowing the rim and adding indents into the side, to accentuate it’s shape and add movement to the piece. When the clay is leather hard, I turn the foot ring into the base, and add my makers mark. It is then decorated with white slip and the leaf motif is added. Once biscuit fired, I apply a transparent glaze and it is fired to stoneware temperatures.

• All items are packaged in a special cardboard box. They are then placed in a further box with compostable chips for transit. Occasionally I use other packaging in order to reuse it and avoid sending it to landfill.
