White Handmade Butter Dish or Cheese Dome with Midsummer Flower Design

A slip and sgraffito technique is used to create the flowers; the stems of the colourful flowers being etched through the white slip and into the clay behind. This technique adds depth and texture to the flower design and reflects a fusion of artistry and functionality.

These butter dishes are hand thrown with a buff coloured stoneware clay on my potter’s wheel in my garden studio in Kent, UK. The clay is fired with a transparent glaze. My maker’s mark is stamped into the base of the plate.

• I make each item myself so please expect some variation in shape, size and decoration between each item – each one is unique. I am always happy to send you photos or exact dimensions.

• All items are packaged in a special cardboard box. They are then placed in a further box with compostable chips for transit. Occasionally I use other packaging in order to reuse it and avoid sending it to landfill.
