Large White Handmade Pottery Lidded Pot or Biscuit Jar with Midsummer Flower Design

£250.00

This large handmade ceramic container with a lid has a white background colour with a delicate design of rainbow coloured flowers encircling the base. It combines functionality with artistic elegance, making it a perfect addition to any space, either as a storage jar or a centre piece to an interior design.

The design on these lidded pots are inspired by the joy I feel in my garden on a midsummer's evening . A slip and sgraffito technique is used to create the flowers; the stems of the colourful flowers being etched through the white slip and into the clay behind. This technique adds depth and texture to the flower design and reflects a fusion of artistry and functionality.

Whether used as a functional container or displayed as a decorative piece, it brings a fusion of the functional beauty of a handmade treasure and artistic expression of the natural world into your home.

This lidded pot is hand thrown on my potter’s wheel in my garden studio in Kent, UK. The clay is fired with a transparent glaze inside and out, with the detailing at the base and at the lid being left unglazed. My maker’s mark is stamped into the base of the pot.
